Daphne Djaferis
Biographical Note
Born in Cyprus. In 1969 she was awarded from the Boston University a degree in film studies and television.
From 1969 to 1972 she worked as a director and producer in the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation. From 1972 to 2004 she worked in the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation as a director in various fields, such as documentaries, music shows, concerts, drama series, and theatrical productions.
She has directed the documentary 'Domna and Her Grandchildren', which has been broadcasted by public television channels in ten european countries• it follows the history of folk music through the biography of Domna Samiou.
She has received two awards in international television competitions as well as in Greece, in the competition ‘Prosopa’ (2002). She was a member, and later decision-maker, of the European Union programme ‘EAVE-MEDIA’ (2002), head of the Music Shows Department in ET1, member of the Cost Estimate committee in ERT, as well as head of the International Co-Productions in ERT.
Since 1998 she has been staging and directing performances of folk music, dances and customs together with Domna Samiou and her assosiates, and since 2004 she has been producing CDs and DVDs of folk music together with Domna Samiou.
