Philippos Rountas
Biographical Note

Clarinet player, born in the early 1920s at Doliana village, Pogoni province, Ioannina prefecture.
In the 1930s, he worked with the folk band “Takoutsia” founded by the violinist Takis Kapsalis.
In 1960, he met Simon Karas and participated in the band of the "Association for the Dissemination of Greek National Music" and Simon Karas’s radio program “Ellinikoi Antilaloi” (“Greek Echoes”) at the National Radio Foundation (EIR).
In 1960, he was part of the band that accompanied Domna Samiou in her first performance as a singer, at the Hellenic-American Union in Athens. He recorded songs in 45 rpm records supervised by Domna Samiou.
