Hey, how joyous are the mountains,

The Virgin is celebrating today,
and the nation with her,
at the sight of deacons with swords
and priests with muskets,
at the sight of Germanós,
the bishop of Patras
anointing their arms, blessing the brave young warriors.

Χαρά που το ’χουν τα βουνά
Μωρέ, χαρά που τo ’χουν, χαρά που το ’χουν τα βουνά,
χαρά που το ’χουν τα βουνά κι οι κάμποι περηφάνεια.
Γιατί γιορτάζει η Παναγιά, γιορτάζει κι η πατρίδα.
Σαν βλέπουν διάκους με σπαθιά, παπάδες με ντουφέκια,
σαν βλέπουν και το Γερμανό, της Πάτρας το Δεσπότη,
για να βλογάει τ’ άρματα, να φχιέται τους λεβέντες.
