’Tis’ not my snows, for they are deep,
nor my streams, for they run fresh.
’Tis Dístomo, whose folk they slaughtered,
’tis Dávleia, which they burnt to the ground
and wretched Livadiá,
whose brave young men they hanged.

Μην είν’ τα χιόνια σου πολλά και τα νερά σου κρύα;
Δεν είν’ τα χιόνια μου πολλά και τα νερά μου κρύα,
βάλαν σφαγή στο Δίστομο, φωτιά στη μαύρη Δαύλεια
και στην καημένη Λειβαδιά κρεμάσαν παλικάρια.
