Oriental dance in 4/4 rhythm, widespread among all the populations of the Ottoman Empire, Muslim, Christian and Jewish. It is mainly danced by women, but also by men, who inflame erotic interest with affected and graceful movements of the body and hands, a seductive swaying and slow rotation of the hips, etc.
