Angelina Tkatcheva-Stathopoulou
Biographical Note
Born in Minsk, Belarus, where she began her studies in music at the age of eight. At the age of ten, she won the first price in a competition for young performers, playing the Russian santur (chimbalom).
She continued her studies at the State Conservatoire, receiving her diploma in 1983. In the same year she was awarded a prize in an all-Union (USSR) competition, in Moscow. She began her carrier as a soloist, performing in many cities in the USSR; at the same time, she continued her studies at postgraduate level at the State Conservatoire.
Her rich repertoire includes many classical, romantic, and contemporary compositions. In 1989 she settled in Greece. She plays in concerts as a soloist –Athens Music Hall (Megaron), Herodeion, Pallas Theatre–, in festivals, as well as in various local cultural events.
She teaches at the Patras Municipal Conservatoire, the Petroupoli Municipal Conservatoire, the Athens Conservatoire, and the National Conservatoire.
