Kyriakos Tapakis
Biographical Note
Born in Athens in 1977, of Cypriot origin. In 1995 he graduated from the Pallini Music High School and began his studies at the Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
At the Pallini Music High School he was taught to play the oud, the tambouras, the tzouras, the bouzouki, Folk and Byzantine music, and Arabic maqam. He was also educated on Harmony and European music. In addition, at the Piraeus Conservatoire, he was taught Byzantine music, the tambouras and jazz guitar, while at the same time he continued his Byzantine music lessons at the association ‘Romanos o Melodos’.
He has collaborated with various artists and music groups, and is a member of the traditional orchestra Estoudiantina Neas Ionias. He has attended many seminars in Greece and abroad (European program ‘Medimuses’, Israel, Turkey, Palestine, Armenia, Lebanon etc.). He has also participated in numerous recording sessions as well as in musical events, festivals, and concerts, in Greece and abroad.
From 2015 he is member of the Anastatica Project by Katerina Papadopoulou.
