Dimitris Skoulas
Biographical Note
Born in 1953, of Cretan origin. He comes from the renowned Skoulas family and from a young age he plays the mandolin, the lute, and he sings.
He studied Public Administration and Political Science at the Panteion University and currently works at the Ministry of National Defence.
He has collaborated with many musicians, playing in various concerts and music venues, and has also participated in various albums, writing lyrics and playing music, among which the 1984 album Enas melachrinos giatros. He has also presented radio shows, opting to the promotion of Cretan music and Cretan mandinades (traditional improvised rhymed couplets).
President of the ‘Agia Paraskevi Cretans Association’ for a number of years.
He collaborated with Domna Samiou and took part in many concerts between 1987 and 1996.
