Yiorgos Gevgelis

Born in 1953 in Goumenissa in Kilkis, Central Macedonia, into a musical family. He plays percussion, mainly the daouli (davul) and the goblet drum.

At the age of thirteen he moved to Athens and, until 1992, he was a musician at the theatre 'Dora Stratou'. He has collaborated with numerous artists and musical groups in Attica and has taken part in concerts worldwide. He has also participated in many albums of the Dora Stratou series, and has recorded two personal albums.

In 1997 he was a founder member of the traditional dance and percussion center 'Vakhes', where he teaches percussion.
