They say that the August full moon is the most beautiful of the year. Indeed combined with the voice of Domna Samiou in front of the Parthenon, the 28th of August promises to be unique.
For the last full moon of the summer, the last full moon of the year on which the Acropolis will remain open, the Ministry of culture is preparing many surprises beside the voice of Domna Samiou singing folk songs about the moon. On this occasion the gates of the Acropolis will open early, at 7:30 in the evening, to allow us to watch the sun setting behind Aigaleo and the moon rising behind Hymettus. Those who have experienced the sun set from the Acropolis, say that Athens is exquisitely beautiful adorned with the magical, sweet, melancholy colours of the sunset, which get reflected off her mountains and off the waters of the Saronik gulf beyond Faliro.
On this occasion the gates of the acropolis will close at 12:30 am.
