Text
Domna Samiou is singing for the first time in Constantinople. The renown singer from Asia Minor, who spread the authentic traditional songs of her homeland1 and made them known to the modern Greeks, will be singing to the public in Constantinople on Friday 25th October.
Invited by the Çemal Resit Rey Concert Hall, something similar to our own 'Megaron', Domna Samiou will have the opportunity to present a two hour program dedicated to songs and tunes from various parts of Greece and Asia Minor. She will be accompanied by the musicians Nikos Filippidis (clarinet and flute), Yiorgos Marinakis (violin), Socrates Sinopoulos (Constantinopolitan lyre and lafta), Kostas Filippidis (lute) and Yiorgos Gevgelis (goblet drum and davul).
1Mrs Samiou was born to Greek refugee parents who fled Asia Minor in 1922/23.
